Gas filters can often become clogged on all butane gas tools. Even with the best quality butane build up of residues can prevent the your butane gas tool from igniting properly. Performance can also be drastically impacted by poor gas flow. Fortunately there is a method to replace your gas filter and get your Iroda iron performing like new again. You can perform this replacement with minimal DIY skills by simply following the steps below.
Materials required:
T 2619 Spare Filter (or use the spare filter that ships with your iron).
Small piece of solid core wire or a paperclip.
Step 1.
Start by taking off the tip assembly. This is done by unscrewing the metal barrel and plastic nut above the ignition switch.
Step 2.
Using a small piece of wire (eg: paperclip) clean out the nozzle assembly pipe.
Step 3.
Un-screw the nozzle assembly by using the oxygen hole and a small screwdriver as a âTâ bar.
Step 4.
Carefully pull out the brass gas filter using long nose pliers.
Step 5.
Un-screw the four screws on the side of the ignition switch with a Phillips head screw driver.
Step 6.
Wedge open one side of the plastic body (the opposite side to the screw holes.) Be careful not to break any parts off.
Step 7.
Remove the rubber tube off the assembly.
Step 8.
Using your butane gas refill can, insert at the hexagonal nut side and push repeatedly blowing out built up wax.
Step 9.
Reassemble your gas iron. Adjust the gas flow clutch (located under the gas flow slider) so that there is enough gas flow at lowest setting to light a small flame.
Finished!
Your maintenance is now complete and your iron should run for many more years. Remember if you want to prevent clogs we highly recommend using a quality butane gas. Avoid cheap cans you can often find in supermarkets and hardware stores. If in doubt, the Iroda branded gas is a great choice.
